Lucy C. Marcinuk 92
Fitchburg: Lucy C. (Costin) Marcinuk, 92, a life long resident of the 'Patch Pride', passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 26, at her home, under the care of friends and family.
Her first husband, Peter Marcinuk died in 1953 and her long time life partner, Sam Giunta died in 2006
She leaves her one and only daughter, Tamara 'Tammy' Marcinuk of Fitchburg; two younger sisters, Aileen Palmer of Tuscon, AZ and Jeannette Charlton of Sarasota, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved.
Lucy loved to talk about the years that Tammy was a deaf skier for the United States Olympic Team and loved the adventures of traveling with Tammy from Switzerland to St. Croix. She also told many stories 'real memory makers' about her sisters through the years.
Lu's life resume was quite impressive. Lucy was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in 1945 and serving in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate Third Class. She was never afraid of hard work and had many jobs throughout her adventurous life. She would fondly reminisce about her 23 years at Nepco, when she would drive her Porsche into Boston everyday to stuff hot dogs! We found boxes of sunglasses from her employment at Foster Grants and had hilarious stories from Heartland Bakery where she worked with another fiery redhead who cannot be named because of her political aspirations!!!!
She was born in Fitchburg on February 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Edward and Rosanna (Gingue) Costin.
Lucy was very special to all. She was a gifted person with a generous heart and told it like it was. She offered help and gave the shirt of her back to anyone that needed it. Her last days were filled with comfort by friends and family and she went out feeling like a queen. They will tell you that it was a real blessing to comfort a woman who truly cared for so many in our community. She will be truly missed.
Lucy's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 14, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg.
There are no calling hours and interment will be private.
