Fitchburg-Earl Souza, 86 died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Fitchburg Healthcare, after an illness.
His wife of 58 years, Stella P. (Mills) Souza died in 2009.
Earl leaves his son, Allan Souza and his companion Deborah Newton of Fitchburg; one grandson David Souza Fitchburg; one granddaughter, Melanie Forgues and her husband Nate of Gardner; six great-grandchildren, Christian Clark, Rachel Clark, Steven Lemieux, Camryn Souza, Jillian Souza and Troy Forgues; one sister, Shirley Saari of Westminster.
He is predeceased by a son David Allen Souza in 1963.
Earl was born on August 1, 1931 in New Bedford, a son of the late Julio J. and Gladys (Perry) Souza. He was a 1948 graduate of Fitchburg High School. He served in the US Army in the Korean War. Earl worked as a machine operator for Simond Saw and Steel in Fitchburg for 36 years retiring in 1988. In August of 1988 Earl and Stella opened Stella’s Coffee Shop in Leominster. He also started the husband and wife bowling league at the Palace Bowling Alley in Cleghorn. He was a member of the Amvets, the Cleghorn American Legion Post 429, where he served as a past commander, the Eastwood Club and the British American Club.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg, MA.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Clarendon Street, Fitchburg, MA.
There are no calling hours.
