Fitchburg - David O. Philbrick Sr. 79, died at his home Saturday October 7, 2017 with his loving family at his side.
David leaves two sons, Robert Philbrick and his wife Tamiko and Harry Philbrick and his wife Patricia, both of ME; one daughter, Linda Dobson of MA; two step-sons, Michael E. Morehouse and his wife Mona of OH and Blake E. Morehouse of Nova Scotia, Canada; one step-daughter, Crystal D. Driscoll and her husband Richard of MA; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and his beloved grand-dog, Rosie.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ada L. (Merritt) Philbrick and a son David O. Philbrick Jr.
David was born in Carlisle, MA, a son of the late Clayton O. and Maude Alice (Richards) Philbrick. David never met a stranger and his kindness and sense of humor endeared him to all. He worked as a fence installer for 50 years, a trade he was very passionate about. He continued to share his knowledge and love of the trade even after retirement. He was a member of the Lunenburg Senior Citizen’s Center and the Eastern Draft Horse Association. He enjoyed going to as many fairs as he could fit in to hang out with his many friends and watch the horse pulls. During the winter months when he couldn't get out as much he spent his days doing puzzles, one of his favorite activities.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the West Cemetery, Ashby, West Road, Ashby, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Nashoba Nursing Service and Hospice, 3 Patterson Road, Shirley, MA 01464.
The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Avenue, Lunenburg, MA 01462 has been entrusted with David’s funeral arrangements.
