William H. Leet

December 16, 1932 ~ September 23, 2021 (age 88)


LUNENBURG – William “Bill” H. Leet was born in Fitchburg, MA on December 16, 1932, a son of Ernest H. and Mildred (Worcester) Leet Caisse.

   William graduated from Lunenburg High School, where he was class treasurer for 4 years for the class of 1950. He was musically talented and played the saxophone for his high school as well as local town concerts.  He attended Worcester Boys trade school where he worked in the machine and tool drafting department. He also worked as an auto and truck mechanic at the former Jenkala’s service station in Lunenburg.

     After earning his associates degree at Worcester Trade School, he went on to utilize his skills working for many companies in Massachusetts including; Laboratory supervisor technician at Rockport Co. in Marlboro, MA., Design draftsman at Fitchburg Engineering in Fitchburg, Manufacturing Engineer at Canon Corp. in Fitchburg, MA, Machine and Tool design at Gem Industries in Gardner, MA., Machine and Tool Design at Standard Tool in Leominster, MA and Machine and Tool Designer at Packing Machinery Co. in Springfield, MA.

   William enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 where he served in the field artillery and played the alto saxophone for the marching field band at Fort Nix, New Jersey.

   William enjoyed playing his saxophone for his beloved “Bonnie Lass” wife, Amy. His hobbies included fishing for bass, watching NASCAR Auto racing, taking daytrips to the beaches in Maine, and dining at Warrens in Portsmouth, NH. He was an active member at Pilgrim Covenant Church, a member of the Lunenburg Historical Society, Lunenburg Alumni Association, the Fitchburg Lions Club, a forever member of the ASJME (American Society Tool Manufacturing Engineers, The C.W. Moore Lodge, and Friendly Seniors of Lunenburg.

    William was predeceased by both of his parents, and by his sister Alberta Freda.

    William will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years Amy (Dodge) Leet, his three sons; Brad W. Leet and his companion Helen of Pepperell, MA, David H. Leet  of Lunenburg, MA and Jonathan D. Leet and his wife Carol of Gardner, MA and a granddaughter; Bridgette E. Leet whom he lovingly called “Princess.”

   The Family would like to thank the staff of Health Alliance at Leominster Hospital as well as Dr. Dombek. A special thank you to Lisa for making delicious goodies, jam, and the best apple pies. And thank you to Rhonda, for all the homemade dinners.

   The family has kindly asked that Memorial Contributions may be made in William’s Name to: Lunenburg Friendly Seniors, c/o Odette Harvey, P.O. Box 563, Lunenburg, MA 01462 as well as the Lunenburg Fire Department at 655 Massachusetts Ave, Lunenburg, MA 01462.

    Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

   The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Ave. Lunenburg has been entrusted with the care of William’s arrangements.
