Robert W. Goerner, 65, of Leominster, sadly passed away on March 17, 2021.
Robert was born in Fitchburg on April 12, 1955, a son of the late Richard N. and Elizabeth (Chick) Goerner. He lived in Fitchburg during his early life and graduated from Fitchburg High School, Class of 1973. After graduating he went to work as a machinist, working for several local companies. Robert worked for Fitchburg Paper Company where he met the love of his life, Karen. The two were married at the Chapel of All Saints, Main Street, Leominster on September 14, 1985. Robert then worked as a machine operator for General Electric for several years before the company moved its operations to Lynn, MA.
Robert could often be found maintaining his truck and motorcycle. Keeping his personal belongings and property pristine was just one of his many great qualities. Together, Robert and Karen enjoyed camping at Moosehead Lake in Maine, as well as making sure Karen’s home-based childcare was properly maintained and safe. Family and Robert’s dog, Maggie, played a quintessential role in his day-to-day life.
Besides his wife Karen, Robert is survived by two sons, Adam Goerner and his partner Ryan Souza and Barrett Senecal and his fiancé Christine Griffin; his grandson, Jorden Senecal and niece Kathryn Goerner of Mt Holly, NC. In addition, Robert is survived by his devoted best friend, Maggie, his dog. Robert was predeceased by his two brothers, Randy Goerner and Richard Goerner, Jr.
There will be no services held for Robert. The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made in Robert’s name to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Drive, Sterling, MA 01564
Robert’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 763 Massachusetts Ave. Lunenburg.
