Peter T. Chabot, 73
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Navy Veteran
It is with overwhelming sadness and a broken heart, that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, Peter T. Chabot, 73 of Fitchburg on January 21, 2021 in Heywood Hospital, with his family by his side.
Peter was born on April 18th, 1947 in Clinton, MA a son of the late Alice H. (Burke) and Peter A. Chabot. He graduated from Notre Dame high school in 1964 then attended Mount Wachusett Community College. In 1967 he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1970, he began a career at New England Telephone Company, where after 38 years of service he retired from Verizon.
Peter will be missed by his loving wife and best friend of 52 years, Patricia E. (Hodge) Chabot; his three adored sons, Jude H. Chabot and wife his Christina of Gardner, Thomas P. Chabot and his wife Angela of Ashburnham and Christopher R. Chabot and his wife Kerry of Hoschton, GA; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Hannah, Andrew, McKinley, and Addison Chabot; his sister, Dolores Reed and her husband David, of Hatfield, MA; his beloved sister-in-law Peggy and her husband Steve Maki of Fitchburg; his cherished nieces and nephews and his faithful companion Shadow.
Peter was a member of St. Bernard’s parish in Fitchburg and the North County Street Rods car club, where he had many cherished friends. Pete was a kind, gentle and generous man who was always ready to help a friend or family member. He loved spending time with his family, as well as collecting and restoring and showing his prized classic cars. We will miss him forever!
Due to Covid19 restrictions, a funeral Mass will be held privately in St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church. There are no calling hours.
