Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
Townsend-Judith A. (Caefer) Flynn, 81 passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Judy was born in Fitchburg on September 18, 1939, daughter of the late Paul and Doris (Spare) Caefer. She worked for 15 years for General Electric and then as a waitress. Judy found her true passion later in life as a nanny.
Judith will be greatly missed by her grandson, Travis Hanley and his wife Katelyn of Townsend; four great-grandchildren, Makayla Vadney, Kenneth Santana, Kassandra Santana and Travis Hanley, Jr. with one more great-grandchild on the way; one brother, Kenneth Caefer and his wife Beverly Caefer; one daughter-in-law, Vanessa Hanley; and one nephew Kevin Caefer.
Judith was predeceased by her first husband Jimmy Hanley; her second husband Edward Flynn, Jr; two sons, Scott Hanley in 2019 and Stephen Hanley in 2021; one brother, Ronald Caefer; and her long-time friend and partner, Dr. Philip Gilley.
Although Judy experienced great loss during her lifetime, she always remained strong and upbeat. She will be remembered for her positivity and her can do attitude. Judy was a long time member of St. Marks Episcopal Church of Leominster. She enjoyed cribbage, bowling, knitting and sewing. Judy was especially fond of her tight knit group of friends the “Friday night gang.”
A memorial gathering was held on Thursday July 1, 2021 from 2-4PM in the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave., Lunenburg. Burial will be private.
A member of the family is immune compromised; the family is requiring anyone who visits to wear a mask with no exceptions. As all precautions must be taken, they are also asking that no one approach them during the visitation.
