WESTMINSTER – John Michael Shea, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital, Leominster, after a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born in Gardner, MA on September 3, 1940, a son of the late John F. and Althea R. (LaBrack) Shea. He was the beloved husband of Mary Louise (Bennett) Shea whom he married on April 20, 1963.
John was raised in South Ashburnham and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. He had been a resident of Westminster since his marriage to Mary. John met Mary while working at F.W. Lombard Furniture Company in South Ashburnham. He then went on to work for James River #10 Paper Mill in Fitchburg until its closing and eventually retired from Vogue Wallcoverings in Fitchburg upon its closing. John was a longtime communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Westminster. In his free time, John enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife Mary, whom he was never apart from. He will be remembered as a good man who had a great sense of humor.
In addition to his wife, John will be greatly missed by his two sons, Randy S. Shea and his wife, Deborah of Riegelwood, NC and Timothy M. Shea of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Judy Shea of Ashburnham, MA; a sister-in-law, Tina Shea of Marlborough, MA; a granddaughter, Danielle Shea; three great grandchildren, Bentley Locklear, Kylie Locklear and Serena Locklear; and several nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Paul Lee Shea; and his grandchildren, Derrick Shea and Deidre Shea.
You are invited to attend a visiting hour on Monday, May 16, 2022, from 10:00-11:00AM in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church Street, Westminster, MA 01473. His funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM. Burial will follow in Woodside Cemetery, Narrows Road, Westminster, MA 01473.
