LEOMINSTER - John William Kiser, 67, died peacefully in his sleep on July 4, 2021 in Leominster Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Leominster MA.
John was born on February 17, 1954, a son of the late Byron and Anne (Buchholtz) Kiser in Cumberland, Maryland.
John grew up and attended schools in Marlboro MA. As a teenager he was an Acolyte for the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church also in Marlboro, MA. John was a gentle soul who had a huge heart. After a short career as a carpenter, he dedicated his life to the role of companion, assistant, and caregiver to his brother Jimmy. They resided in Nashua NH for several years before relocating to Katy, TX where they lived for more than 20 years. John loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews and playing dominos with his many buddies while in Texas. John was a selfless, caring man to those he loved. He had a way of recalling great stories, which he oftentimes embellished to entertain and inspire.
John proudly enlisted and served in the United States Air Force from June of 1973 until April of 1974. John was briefly married to Deborah Surratt of Natick, MA.
John will be remembered by his brother, Andrew Kiser and wife Kim (Spare) of Leominster, MA; two sisters, Debbie Brown Pirtle of Green Castle, PA and Karol Hines of Reno, NV; two nieces, Deanna Kiser Minton of Londonderry, NH and Joanna Pirtle of Virginia Beach, VA ; three nephews, Nate Pirtle of Virginia Beach, VA, Jacob Kiser of Shippensburg, PA and Michael Brown of Shippensburg, PA; one great-niece, Phoebe Brown of Hagerstown, MD; three great-nephews; Gabriel, Joshua and Elijah Brown of Hagerstown, MD; and soon to be welcomed into the family, great-niece Madison Minton who is due in August of 2021.
We wish to thank the staff at Leominster Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the wonderful care they gave John. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private and a celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date.
