Jean B. (Riley) Millea

July 14, 1935 ~ June 5, 2021 (age 85)


Jean B. (Riley) Millea, 85, a longtime resident of Fitchburg, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 at HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital.  Born on July 14, 1935 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Alberta (Briggs) Riley.  Jean graduated with a Diploma from Dominican Academy High School in Fall River.  She completed a diploma from the former Burbank Hospital School of Nursing and Education and graduated in 1957 from Fitchburg State College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and Education.  Jean was a member of the Fitchburg State College Alumni Association as well as the Burbank Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.  She worked as an office nurse for many years beginning her career with Dr. Robert Babineau Sr., then worked for 16 years with Dr. Joel Neuschatz in Fitchburg. She completed her nursing career at Acton Medical Associates in Acton, Ma where she retired from in 2006, after 15 years of dedicated service.

   Greater than her love of nursing was her love for her children and grandchildren.  Jean will be lovingly remembered by her two sons;  Kevin M. Millea of Fitchburg MA,  Keith and his wife Robin Millea of Sutton MA,  three daughters; Charlotte and husband John Drabik of Stockton UT,  Sandra and her husband Bill Haigis of Ooltewah , TN , and Erin P. Millea of Fitchburg, MA.,  Two sisters;  Grace Callahan of Georgetown, TX,  and June Starr of Fall River, MA,  Eleven Grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.  Jean was predeceased by her husband, Leo Millea in 1994, her son William “Billy” Millea in 2014 and her sister Jackie McMillan in 2019.

   You are invited to attend a visiting hour in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Chapel of Masciarelli Family Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, on Wednesday June 9, 2021 from 9-10 AM. A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM with Reverend Maryann Barry as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

   In Lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Jean’s name to The American Heart Association 300 5th Avenue Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451 or may be left with the Funeral Home.
