Gardner-Donald Peter Solovei, 68, formerly of Lunenburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in Heywood Hospital.
Donald was born in Groton, MA on July 2, 1953 a son of the late John A. and Gertrude A. (Maki) Solovei. He lived in Lunenburg for the majority of his life before his recent move to Gardner.
Donald leaves six children; Brian Solovei of NH, Gregg Solovei and his wife Melannie of NH, Deanne Solovei and her partner Kevin Pipher of NH, John Solovei of TN, Jacob Solovei of MA and Rachel Solovei of MA. He also leaves two brothers, John Solovei and his wife Nancy of CT and David Solovei and his wife Judy of ME; his former partner Kay Calawa of Templeton; step-son, Ronn Miner of Templeton and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Donald was raised working on the family farm in Lunenburg and always cherished those times. He spent his earlier years driving a school bus for Warpula Bus Company. He also started his own business called DTD contracting. Donald was a hard worker who was happiest when tending to his gardens, haying, plowing, paving, or doing tree work. He relaxed by watching old black and white TV shows, his favorite being The Three Stooges. He found joy in "shooting the breeze" and sharing stories with family and friends. He will be missed.
At the request of the family funeral services will be held privately in the spring.
The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave. Lunenburg has been entrusted with the care of Donald’s arrangements.
John F. Masciarelli, James M. Hebert and Terresa Shea, Funeral Directors.
