Obituary

Westminster-Carroll Hiscox Arnold, 91, formerly of Naples Florida and Westminster, passed away peacefully, on Monday, February 22, 2021 with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side.
Carroll was born in Thompson, CT on February 17,1930, son of the late William L. and Althea (Wallis) Arnold. His beloved wife Sally (Makinen) Arnold passed away on March 11, 2018.
Carroll will be remembered by his daughter, Jane Anderson-Eacueo and her husband Ed of Rutland; two sons, Mark and David Arnold both of Westminster and three grandchildren, Lindsey Arnold, Julia Anderson and Robert Anderson.
Carroll began his career with Wain-Roy in 1949.  After a couple of years Carroll joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for 3 years and earned the rank of Sergeant.  When he was honorably discharged, Carroll returned to Wain-Roy working in the engineering department. With the exception of his time in the military, Carroll remained dedicated to Wain-Roy and at the time of his retirement he was Vice President of Engineering and Market Development.  Holder of a long list of patents, Carroll has been instrumental in such original concepts and design developments as the Wain-Roy JAW bucket, the quick-change bucket coupler system, and the revolutionary RIPPER bucket for digging soil under the most rugged rock and frost conditions.  Carroll was recognized in January of 2020 for being a Master Mason for over 65 years.
Carroll will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Westminster where he and Sally married in 1957. They were also longtime members of the First Congregational Church of Naples Florida, where he and Sally remained very active. Carroll was a member of the Pelican Bay Men’s Club and Captain on the Pelican Bay tour guide boat.  Carroll enjoyed long bike rides to Old Naples and walking to the beach with Sally for sunset.
At the request of Carroll’s family and due to considerations of Covid19 restrictions, funeral services will be private.
The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St., Westminster has been entrusted with the care of Carroll’s funeral arrangements.
