Lunenburg - Blanche Mary (Vincent) Goguen, 98, passed away at HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, calmly and without pain on September 5, 2021.
Blanche was born in Fitchburg, MA on March 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Mederic J. and Juliet Mary (Gabon) Vincent. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence J. Goguen, who passed away in 2019.
Blanche was born and raised on Vincent’s Farm, Alpine Road, Fitchburg, with her 14 siblings, 12 brothers and 2 sisters. She married her late husband Clarence in 1944 at St. Joseph’s church. They had met at the church parking lot one winter day, where the church flooded to form a skating rink. She also was involved in the church Girl Scouts Troop for a short time. Blanche worked for Independent Lock and waitressed a short while for a relative at a diner on Cleghorn Street. She moved to Lunenburg in 1962 and became a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church.
Blanche enjoyed participating in activities such as skating, knitting, crocheting, some skiing, camping, golfing, afternoon soap operas, coloring, iPad, Facebook, and traveling on many Saab dealer trips. Blanche was a dedicated Red Sox fan and enjoyed gambling with some luck. She had a remarkable memory for things.
Blanche loved family and was a joy to be with at gatherings. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, daughter, Janet A. Benti and her husband Pat of Largo, FL; sons, Donald R. Goguen and his wife Kathy, of Murrieta, CA and John V. Goguen, of Lunenburg, MA; four grandchildren; Kevin Hamel, Renell Apodaca, Heather Goguen, and Meredith Miles; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, 474 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 11:00AM.
