Fitchburg: Ruth E. (Connors) Connor, 91, a longtime Fitchburg-Leominster resident, died Tuesday, July 23, in Life Care Center of Leominster, after a long illness surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves her husband of 65 years, Charles M. Connor; one son, Kevin M. Connor, and his wife, Marianne, of Fitchburg; one daughter, Karen R. Fregeau, and her husband, George L., of Leominster; one grandson, Nolan C. Connor, of Fitchburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Rice of Fitchburg and Irene Barron of San Francisco.
Mrs. Connor was employed as a clerk-typist for the Selective Service and then later for the Mass Division of Employment Security.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Parish in Fitchburg and was a 1939 graduate of Fitchburg High School. She was also was a member of the Fitchburg High School Alumni Association and the Leominster Homemakers. Ruth loved her home and her family.
She was born in Fitchburg, on August 31, 1921, a daughter of the late Cornelius and Ruth (Kane) Connors.
Ruth's Funeral will be celebrated on Friday, July 26, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Parish @ St. Camillus de lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Thursday, July 25, from 5 to 7. p.m.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, 529 Main St., Charlestown, MA 02129 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
