Fitchburg-Louis "Allen" Leger, 95, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Gardner after an illness.
He was the husband, of the late Margaret I. (Landry) Leger who died on June 27, 2005.
He leaves two daughters, Kathleen Potts, of Vienna, VA, and Karen Vaillette, of Fitchburg, four grandchildren, Malisa Eaton, of Vienna, VA, Bryant Nedeau, of Chattanooga, TN, David Vaillette, of Leominster, and Greta Vaillette of Fitchburg, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was born in Fitchburg, on February 1, 1918, a son of the late Edward N. and Emile (Dufort) Leger. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1936.
He worked at Independent Lock Co, for 35 years as a tool grinder, and also owned the former Leger Wall Paper and Paint Store in Fitchburg for 28 years.
He was a lifelong member of St. Bernard's Church, a former member and Officer, of the Holy Name Society, a former member of the Eagles Club, a member of the Fitchburg Retirement Club and the Retired Men's Club of Greendale.
The Funeral will be held from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water Street, on Saturday, June 29, 2013, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard's Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA.
