Fitchburg- Lila I. (Hendrickson) Keating, 79 died Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Highlands after an illness.
She was born in Fitchburg on March 23, 1933 a daughter of the late Jack and Impi (Huhtaneimi) Hendrickson. She was a 1950 graduate of Cushing Academy, and also graduate from Fitchburg State College in 1954 with her teaching degree. She was an Elementary School Teacher in Fitchburg for 30 years. Lila would spend countless hours crocheting and knitting. Lila also enjoyed playing the piano during school lesions and at home. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, and later became a water aerobics instructor. She and her beloved spouse were members of the North American Family Campers and the Squaw-No-cook Chapter 30; Her passion for travel brought her all around the country with those she loved both family and her extended camping family.
Lila was the wife of the late Francis J. "Mike" Keating who died on January 31, 2008.
She leaves four daughters Lorrie Ricci, Patricia and her husband Roy Brettschneider, Kathy Leighton all of Fitchburg, and Dianne and her husband Carl Douai of Keene, 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, two sisters Maryann Smith of TX, and June Turk of FL.
She is predeceased by a son Daniel Michael Keating in 2006, and a brother Jack Hendrickson.
Her Funeral will be held from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420, on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
Burial will follow in the New Cemetery, Ashburnham, MA
Calling Hours will be in the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
