Fitchburg-Charles M. (Chick) Connor, 89, died Tuesday, August, 20, 2013, at the HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital after an illness, surrounded by his loving family.
His wife of 65 years, died July 23, of this year, Ruth (Connors) Connor.
He leaves one son, Kevin M. Connor, and his wife Marianne, of Fitchburg, one daughter, Karen R. Fregeau, and her husband George L., of Leominster one grandson, Nolan C. Connor of Fitchburg, and several nieces and nephews.
He is also predeceased, by two sisters, Eileen Desaulnier, Mary Chellman and three brothers, William Connor, Herman Connor, and Eugene Connor.
Chick was born in Winchendon, on August 29, 1923 a son of the late Henry, and Mary (Cloutier) Connor. He graduated from Murdock High School in Winchendon, in 1941. He then joined the US Navy, and served in the Seabees, in the Pacific during World War II. Chick was employed by the US Postal Services, as a letter carrier, retiring in 1985; he then worked for the Fitchburg Public Library. He was a life member of the American Legion, Post 429. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 16. A member of the Leominster Booster Club, and he managed Babe Ruth teams. He also was a longtime member of the St. Bernard Church.
Chick's Funeral will be held from the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Avenue, Lunenburg, MA, on Saturday, August 24, 2013, with a Mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus de Lellis Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA.
Burial will follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg, MA
Calling Hour will be in the Funeral Home, on Friday August 23, 2013, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in Chick's name to the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, 529 Main Street, Charleston, MA 02129, or may be left at the Funeral Home.
