Anna N. (Gerante) Valeri 77 Restaurant Owner

Leominster: Anna N. (Gerante) Valeri, 77, a longtime area resident, died Monday, June 17, in her home after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 28 years, John A. Valeri, died in 1987.

She leaves one son, Angelo J. Valeri, and his wife, Kelly, of Pembroke, MA; two daughters, Monica V. Campobasso and her husband, Peter, and Tonia A. Hicks and her husband, Peter, all of Lancaster; three sisters, Jane Stoddard of Leominster, Pauline Sala of Fitchburg and Virginia Carter of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Peter and Angela Campobasso, of Lancaster, Nathanial and Jacob Hicks of Lancaster and John, Emma and Grace Valeri, of Pembroke. She was predeceased by a brother, Vito S. Gerante and one sister, Theresa F. Liberatore, both of Fitchburg.

Mrs. Valeri was the owner of the former Anna's Restaurant in Fitchburg. She also was the co-owner, with her husband, of the former Kings Corner Restaurant in North Leominster.

She was a life time member of St. Anthony di Padua Parish in Fitchburg and was a Eucharistic Minister. She also was a member of the Parish Venerini Guild. Anna was a volunteer and cook at the Beacon of Hope, Montachusett Interfaith Hospitality Network and Our Father's Table. She enjoyed cooking, painting, crafts, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends. She attended Fitchburg High School.

Mrs. Valeri was born in Fitchburg, on July 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Sebastiano and Antoinette (Turrito) Gerante.

Her Funeral will be celebrated on Thursday, June 20, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony di Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg, MA.

Burial will follow in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster, MA.

Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Wednesday, June 19, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony School Community Center Building Fund, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg, MA 01420 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
